Cricket Custom Rods was born not out of a business plan, but from a Father’s Day gift in 2023. I built my first fishing rod for my dad — a man whose journey inspires everything we do.

My father is an immigrant from Cuba who came to the United States with very little, but carried with him a deep love for the ocean and the freedom that fishing brought him. After years of hard work, he saved enough to buy a small Boston Whaler skiff, his dream boat, which he used to explore the waters off the Miami coast. For him, fishing wasn’t just a hobby — it was peace, purpose, and connection.

That first rod was a thank-you — for the stories, the boat rides, the early mornings casting into the surf. And it sparked something in me. I realized the power of a truly personal fishing rod — not just something off the shelf, but something designed for your style, your species, and your story.
